Technical Infrastructure¶
The ANC software architecture follows a GitLab-centered design. A self-hosted GitLab instance provides the core environment for dataset storage, version control, access management, project templates, and CI/CD automation. Modality-specific conversion pipelines ingest MRI, MEG, and EEG data into BIDS-formatted datasets, while automated workflows perform validation, metadata generation, and publication of dataset landing pages through GitLab Pages.
Metadata are disseminated through several complementary services. The ANC BIDS Indexer prepares metadata for the knowledge graph, OAI-PMH endpoint, DOI registration with DataCite, and other export formats. A Neurobagel node provides federated participant-level discovery through the Neurobagel federation, while OpenAIRE harvests ANC metadata via OAI-PMH. The architecture also reflects the ANC governance model, distinguishing the responsibilities of Data Custodians, Data Stewards, Data Contributors, and Data Consumers.
