Questionnaire Data — General Route

Questionnaire data is referred to as phenotype data in the BIDS specification. It is stored in a top-level phenotype/ directory alongside your imaging data.

Questionnaires alongside neural recordings

If your questionnaire data was acquired as part of an MRI, MEG, or EEG study, skip Phase 1 — your ANC project already exists. Add the phenotype data directly to that dataset.

BIDS- and PRISM-formatted data

ANC accepts questionnaire data in two formats:

  • BIDS: This guide describes the standard way of storing questionnaires according to the BIDS specification: one .tsv and one .json file per questionnaire in the top-level phenotype/ directory, containing the data of all participants.
  • PRISM: PRISM is a BIDS-compatible extension that applies BIDS principles to questionnaires as well. Instead of one file per questionnaire for all participants, PRISM supports a survey/ folder within the standard BIDS subject (and session) folders, so questionnaire data is stored per participant, just like imaging data. PRISM Studio can convert your raw survey data into this format. If you use PRISM, follow the PRISM documentation instead of the steps in Phase 2 below.
