Dataset Status Tracking¶

Every dataset on the ANC has an open Dataset Status issue. This issue carries scoped labels that reflect the current status of the dataset, and is assigned to the responsible data steward.

Responsibilities of the assigned data steward:

Assisting the data owner with adding data and ensuring it is valid and meets ANC requirements
Verifying and merging in changes
Keeping the dataset up to date with the latest ANC standards

New projects automatically receive a Dataset Status issue and appear on the Dataset issue board in the BIDS Datasets group. They are currently automatically assigned to Monique, who reassigns them based on data type and availability. Assigned data stewards are responsible for keeping labels up to date.

The Dataset Status issue can also be used by dataset owners and contributors to ask questions — the assigned data steward is their first point of contact.

Dataset status¶

`Initialized`	Project was opened and will soon be assigned to a data steward	Set automatically on project creation; update as soon as possible
`Formation`	Project is being set up; data or metadata may be incomplete	User has opened a new dataset project that will be filled over time
`Maintenance`	Dataset is complete and under maintenance	All data and metadata filled in; maintained to latest standards
`Test`	A dataset for testing purposes	Assign to ensure the dataset is excluded from dissemination processes
`To be deleted`	Data has been moved or is not suitable for ANC	Dataset is replaced, conversion must restart, personal data present, or project initialised incorrectly

ANC compliant¶

`Pending`	Compliance should be reviewed after template updates	After changes to the ANC template, all datasets receive this label
`Under review`	Compliance is being assessed and updated	When a dataset requires changes after a template update
`Done`	Dataset is fully ANC compliant	All compliance issues resolved (warnings may remain where differences are acceptable)
`Deprecated`	Dataset is no longer ANC compliant and will not be curated further	Authors unreachable for updates and missing information causes validation to fail

Author metadata complete¶

`True`	`CITATION.cff` is filled in so that the dataset is fully citable

First sample arrived¶
